Parents' Association Committee

The Parents' Association committee of Dunshaughlin Community College is a group of parents/guardians who have volunteered their time and support towards the activities of the Association in order to enhance the life of our students in Dunshaughlin Community College. The officers of the committee are the Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Treasurer. All parents and guardians of pupils currently attending Dunshaughlin Community College are members of the Association.

We meet during school term to discuss issues, projects and fundraising. These meetings are attended by the Principal or Deputy Principal. Any parent is welcome to join the committee and we encourage you to attend our AGM which takes place each year.

Main Activities Of The Parents’ Association

The main purpose of the Parents' Association is to act as a channel of communication between the parents/guardians and the staff and functions of the school. We have recently added a new parents section on the school website so that we can keep you up to date. Please do contact us with your comments and feedback.

Finance

The Parents Association raise funds for the school by two primary sources:

  • Voluntary Family Contributions
  • Specific Fundraising Events

Voluntary Contribution

This voluntary contribution is an invaluable source of income for our school and benefits all of our students. If you wish to contribute, please call in to the school reception.

Fundraising

This is a very important function, as over the years it has enabled us to support and improve various facilities within the school. Each year the Parents Association undertake a fundraising event to further enhance the educational experience of our students. In past years we have organised many events including: golf classics, raffles, social nights, student concert…..etc. We are always looking for new and exciting ways to raise funds for our school.
Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any new ideas to assist us in raising much needed funds
In the past the Parents' Association have organised many different events which have raised much needed funds for projects such as
· Increase in stock of books for school library
· Granting of Language & Science Scholarships for 5th year students
· Improvements to the school’s sports changing facilities & team resources
· Sponsorship of school Prize Giving for Leaving Certificate Graduation and general School Annual Awards
· Sponsorship of bus hire for representative school events
· Supplementing ‘Study Skills’ seminars for exam students
